UNCLE ALLAN WAS THE HUSBAND OF AUNT NETTIE RAGIN KENNARD. AS A SMALL CHILD I REMEMBER HIM BEING VERY SICKLY. HE AND AUNT NETTIE HAD THE POST OFFICE IN THEIR HOME AT YELVINGTON. WE CHILDREN LOVED TO GO TO THEIR FARM.
There was a room with a shuttered window that opened onto the front porch that was the mail room or post office. People in the surrounding community of Yelvington brought there letters to be mailed or recieve mail.

Allan W. Kennard (1868-1948), age 80 years, passed away Tuesday morning at his home at Yelvington, following a long illness.
Funeral services and burial were held Wednesday afternoon at the Satsuma Cemetery, with the Garcia Funeral Home of St. Augustine, in charge.
The deceased, a long-time resident of the Yelvington section, is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nettie Ragin Kennard, one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Annie Gillett and Alfred Kennard, Croyden, England, Basil P.
