GREENFIELD --- Raymond Glenn Kramer of Greenfield, departed this life on Thursday, November 8, 2001, in Dade County Nursing Home at the age of 90 years.
Raymond was born November 17, 1910, in Walker, Mo., his parents were the late Henry Jacob and Hazel Edith (Robertson) Kramer.
He graduated from Walker High School in 1929 and attended Drury College. He was married to Elsia Cook on Sept. 19, 1936, in the Church of Christ, Springfield, and to this union three sons were born.
Raymond and Elsia lived in Springfield while Raymond was employed as a bus driver for Floyd Jones Bus Line. They then moved to Dallas, Texas, where he worked for Ford Motor Company from 1940 to 1941. They moved to Kansas City, Mo., where Raymond and his brother, George, owned and operated the "24 Line" Bus Line from 1941 to 1945. The brothers then purchased a hardware and furniture store called Kramer Brothers in Greenfield. Raymond and Elsia also owned and operated the Plaza Theater in Greenfield.
He was a member of Greenfield's First Christian Church. He served as Greenfield City Clerk for many years. He was a past president of the Lions Club and Greenfield Chamber of Commerce. He was the first Greenfield City Park Director and enjoyed the position very much.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his four brothers, George Leroy, Henry Reginald, Charles Jacob, and Carl Richard; and two sisters, Minnie Pearl McKinney and Hazelnel Bouffard.
Survivors include his loving wife, Elsia; three sons, Rodney and his wife, JoAnn Kramer, of Miami, Okla.; Charles H. R. Kramer of Colonial Heights, Va., and Glenn Alan Kramer of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Josephine True of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kirk, Kevin, and Kristen Kramer, Stewart and Whitney Kramer, Mia Comstock, and Chad Kramer; one great-granddaughter, Morgan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 pm Sunday, November 11, 2001, in the First Christian Church of Greenfield, with Rev. Gene Clack officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8:30 pm in the Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
