Mr. Campfield was born on July 11, 1946, in Staunton and was a son of the late Boyd A. (Buddy) and surviving Jeane (Collins) Campfield. Sam was a graduate of Oak Hill Academy and was a member of First Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, Sam is survived by a brother, Michael C. Campfield (Bini) of Oakton; a sister, Jane Campfield Nessar (Michael) of Staunton. Also surviving are two nieces and three great-nephews.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday Sept. 17, 2012, at Thornrose Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Hinton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church C/O the Food Panty Fund, 406 W. Frederick St., Staunton VA 24401.
