Actress, Comedian. In a career that spanned 57 years, she was considered to be a pioneer of Puerto Rican television. When she was nine years old, she auditioned for, and won, a children's role on a radio soap opera. In high school, she had the lead in the plays in which she participated. Noble prize winner Juan Ramón Jiménez was so impressed with her performances that he offered to pay her college tuition. She enrolled in the University of Puerto Rico and studied Dramatic Arts. Her big break came in 1954 when she was given her first role by producer Tommy Muñiz. She portrayed 'Lirio Blanco' in "El Colegio de la Alegria". Her beauty and talent made her a fan favorite and the most sought-after actress of her time. Other credits include "Black Power", "Anacaona", "El Idolo", "Rojo Verano", "El Malefico", "Guadalupe", "Soledad", and "Amalia Batista" among many others. She also starred in local theater productions such as "Cecilia Valdes", "Clemente", "Cuando" and "Flor de Pesido". The 1989 Festival of Art "El Cemi" in Perto Rico was dedicated to her and in 1994 she was given the "Carlos Busquets" award in recognition of her 40 years in the world of entertainment. She retired from acting after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She passed away at the age of 81.
