Lucille M. Swanson
MT. JEWETT
Lucille M. Swanson, 91, of Mt. Jewett, passed away Tuesday (September 4, 2012) at Kane Community Hospital. She was most recently a resident of the Lutheran Home at Kane.

Born October 2, 1920, in Mt. Jewett, she was a daughter of Oscar F. and Ellen M. Anderson. On March 25, 1946, at Nebo Lutheran Church in Mt. Jewett, she married Ray D. Swanson who preceded her in death on September 27, 2007.

Mrs. Swanson, after graduating from grammar school and high school in Mt. Jewett, attended Erie Commercial College in Erie and Hoff Business College in Warren.

Beginning in 1940, she was employed in a variety of bookkeeping and secretarial positions, including Stephenson and Osborne, Inc., the Department of Public Relations in Bradford, Mr. A. Harding Paul, Income Tax Attorney in Washington, D.C., the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Headquarters, the Selective Service and the office of the McKean County Superintendent of Schools.
Later on, she worked at the Kane Gas and Light Company office and as office manager at the Dane Garage in Mt. Jewett where her husband was a part owner.

Lucille was very active in church life at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and was a member of the Lutheran Church Women's Association. She also served for many years as the organist and pianist for services and choir practices at both St. Matthew's Church and the Nebo Chapel. Among her many interests and hobbies, Lucille loved music, knitting, crosswords and playing bingo.

Surviving are a son, Kris Swanson and his wife Jan of Marlborough, MA; a cousin Willard D. Anderson of Kane; and several nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband and parents, by a brother Charles Gerald Anderson.

Lucille will be remembered for her good nature, patience and kindness and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9:00 P.M. Friday at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Mt. Jewett. A funeral service with the Rev. Dr. Darrel Justh, pastor of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, officiating, will be held at Nebo Chapel at 11:00 A.M. Saturday. Burial will be at Nebo Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 11 Main St., Mt. Jewett, PA 16740 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
