SINSINAWA, Wis. - Sister Gertrudine Dohmen, OP, 95, of St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2004, at St. Dominic Villa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of the Rosary Chapel, Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa. Burial will be in the Motherhouse Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Gathering Place, Dominican Motherhouse, where there will be a wake and remembering service at 6:30 p.m. The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.
Sister Gertrudine was an elementary and junior high school teacher for 49 years. From 1979 to 1990, she served as business officer at St. Dominic Villa, Dubuque. She served in Illinois, Wyoming, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
She was born on March 17, 1909, in Creighton, Neb., daughter of Joseph and Anna (Hermann) Dohmen.
She made her first profession of religious vows on Oct. 7, 1930.
Surviving are her Dominican Sisters, with whom she shared life for 74 years.
