Anita-Ene Abel, age 73, of Tavares, FL passed away at home on Sunday, December 26, 2010. She was born August 18, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Lake County in 1994 from Fairfax, VA.
Anita was a secretary to the principals at Washington Irving Middle School in Springfield, VA and retired from Fairfax County School System. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Mt. Dora, Mt. Dora Women’s Club, Lake Jem Red Hats, Tavares Boat Club, and the Dead River Gang.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon E. Abel, Sr.; sons, Vernon E. Abel, Jr. of Alexandria, VA, Alfred G. (Sheryl) Abel of St. Mary’s, GA; daughters, Shara L. Abel of Bluemont, VA, Anita M. (David) Houchins of Tavares, FL; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 9:00AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Mt. Dora. Interment took place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, Tavares, FL. Arrangements were entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, 226 E. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares, FL 32778.
