Alger Alvin Abel was born on September 12, 1897 in Columbia, Lancaster Count, Pa. To the proud parents Wesley and Laura S Sanders Abel. Alger was the youngest of 6 children born to the couple. His siblings include Cora Alverta, Carson Clayton, Virginia Minerva, Percival Walter and Maude Abel.
Alger met and married Florence A. Klinedinst. They never had children.
Alger entered the Army serving in WWI on October 31, 1917- February 19, 1919. At the time of entering the Army he was 20 years old. He had an Honorably Discharge on March 21, 1919. According to draft records for WWII, Alger was 44 years old, stood 5' 5" tall, weighed 130 lbs., white, brown eyes, bald with a ruddy complexion.
Sadly, Alger died on January 4, 1957 in Lebanon County, Pa. at the age of 59 years old. He died of Cancer in glands, of the neck. He is buried in Mount Rose Cemetery. He was buried on January 7, 1957. His wife joined him on December 9, 1984.
