Graduated in May 1944 from Newton High School, Newton, Harvey County, Kansas.

United States Army WWII veteran; Company E, 41st Armored Infantry Regiment, 2nd Armored Division ("Hell on Wheels"). Served his country at the Battle of the Bulge in Germany.

Married ¹Maxine Dessenberger on November 13, 1948 in her pastor's home in Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas. She died October 23, 1971 at Grace Hospital (no longer exists), Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas. They had a daughter (the contributor.maintained by person) and a son.

Married ²Sharon RoJean (Henson) Kramer on December 14, 1985 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. She died February 20, 2012 at Asbury Park, Newton, Harvey County, Kansas. They had no children.

Manufacturing supervisor for Cessna/Eaton Company in Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas (retired 1993).

Church memberships: Sixth Avenue Presbyterian Church (no longer exists) in Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas; Forest Park Presbyterian Church (no longer exists) in Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas; First Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas; First Presbyterian Church in Newton, Harvey County, Kansas.

Baptized on December 17, 1967 at Sixth Avenue United Presbyterian Church (no longer exists), Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas.

Leader and trainer in the Boy Scouts, affiliated with the Kanza Council in Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas (approximately 30 years).

Elmer enjoyed square dancing (which is where he met second wife, Sharon), bird watching and being outdoors enjoying nature. He also enjoyed woodworking and making toys, and spending time with his loving family and many friends.

Cause of death was his third stroke that occurred on August 8, 2012 while a resident of Asbury Park in Newton, Harvey County, Kansas.

Funeral was held on August 22, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church of Newton, Harvey County, Kansas.

Buried on August 22, 2012 in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas (next to Maxine, his first wife, who died of cancer in 1971).
