He was born August 9, 1915 in Mansfield to the late Hubbell and Florence (Figley) Marlow. He was a member of First Christian Church and Mansfield Police Auxiliary. Walter had previously worked at Farm Tool and Mansfield Structural Steel. Known for his great sense of humor and cordial laugh, he was friendly to all whom he met.
He is survived by a sister, Elaine Marlow Hall; nieces and nephews, Laurene "Laurie" Parish, Jay H. McKee, Carolyn (Richard) Geiger, Norman (Terry) Hall, Dave (Julie) Marlow, Stan Marlow, Karen (Donald) Zirkle, Lynn (Craig) Lackey; and many other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, whom he married on July 31, 1965; sister, Geraldine Marlow McKee; brother, William S. Marlow and infant sister, Marilyn Marlow.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Friends and family may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Chris Whitehead will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church.
