Donna Marie Edwards, 57, of Belfast, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, in St. Thomas Hospital.
Ms. Edwards was a native of New Orleans, La., and daughter of Reverend Frank Edwards and Eva Richardson Edwards of Belfast. She was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. She taught school at Liberty School in Shelbyville in the Title I reading and 1st grade classes for 23 years. She was the secretary of the Belfast Lions Club. She was a member of the Hannah's Gap Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for several years.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by three brothers, Tim Edwards of Medical Lake, Wash., Ronnie (Jeanne) Edwards of Shelbyville, and Donnie Edwards of Belfast; nephews, Joseph, Jamison, Jesse, Tucker, Mark and Jonathan Edwards; and two nieces, Caley and Mary Margaret Edwards. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 7, from East Commerce Baptist Church, followed by burial in Head Springs Cemetery at Belfast.
Memorials may be given to Hannah's Gap Baptist Church c/o Lester Nichols, 309 Bledsoe Road, Petersburg, TN 37144, or East Commerce Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1575, Lewisburg, TN 37091.
