Mrs. Deville, 83, of Deville, entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 4, 2021, in her home, with her loving family by her side, after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Effie to Ivy ad Etta Mae Lucas Fuqua and lived in Deville where she attended and graduated from Buckeye High School. She played basketball for Buckeye High School and was selected Miss Buckeye High School her senior year. After graduation she married the love of her life, Timothy Ray "T. Ray" Deville and together they had five children. She was a homemaker until all of her children were in school, then started working for the Rapides Parish School Food Service at Buckeye, where she retired after many years of service. She loved to play the piano and started playing for her church, Big Island Baptist Church at the age of 12, and did so for forty-plus years as a service to her Lord and Savior and for her church. She was an amazing cook, a great seamstress and also loved to crochet. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden, growing beautiful flowers and vegetables. She was a wonderful mom and grandmother and was a very thoughtful and caring person. She loved God, family and life and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ivy and Etta Mae Lucas Fuqua; her husband of sixty-two years, T. Ray Deville; and son-in-law, Steven Alwell.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include five children, Tim Deville and his wife, Angela, of Deville, Kathy Silvers and her husband, Wayne, of Deville, Bonnie Smith and her husband, Bill, of Pineville, Joy Deville, of Deville, Katie O'Bannon and Sidney Van Cleave, of Deville; one brother, James Fuqua, of Deville; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six, great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and another on the way.
