She died 11 January 1917, 4 days after the birth and death of their infant twins.

Jones, 1509126, Robert C., Private, Co. A, 142nd Infantry:
"About 11:00 a.m. on the morning of Oct. 8, 1918, we were advancing under shellfire about 200 yards north of St. Etienne. Private Jones was about 50 yards ahead of me. I saw a shell strike near him and he fell to the ground. Immediately afterward another shell struck nearby and killed him instantly. I passed within a few feet of him and saw that he was dead." Witness:

Robert Calvin Jones was first buried in France. In 1921 his body was exhumed and returned to the United States. He arrived home on Monday, 26 September 1921. He was re-interred in the Tahoka Cemetery in Tahoka, Lynn County, Texas on Tuesday, 27 September 1921.
