James H. Boelman, 67, Cassville, died on Friday, March 21, 1997 at the Lancaster Hospital following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Jim was bom October 24 1929 in Freeport, the son of George and Anna (Lameyer) Boelman. He served in the United States Air Force from 1931 to 1933.
On June 3. 1932 he was united in marriage with Juanita Fry. Jim owned and operated the Sextonville garage from 1933 until it burned in 1972. He then worked a couple of years for Center Automotive in Richland Center before he and Nita purchased Kretshmann Electric in Boscobel. They owned and operated it as Boelman Paint and Electric from 1974 to 1989 which also included as antique business "Days Gone" From 1989 until 1996 they were managers of the Key Apartments in Dubuque, IA.
Jim was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, he loved to hunt and fish, was an accomplished woodworker, and could fix just about anything. Survivors include his wife Juanita. Cassville. 2 sons, Dirk (Karen) Boelman, Platteville, Duane Boelman, Madison, 3 grandchildren, a sister, Evelyn Koepke, Waverly, IA, his father-in-law, Harold Fry, Sextonville, an aunt, Grace Kennagator, Akley, IA; two sisters-in-law, Twila (JB) Gillingham. Richland Center, Charlene (Barney) Easterday, Brooklyn and special friends, Ellis Seavey and Fritz Gilbertson, both of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Anna Boelman. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel. Richland Center with Rev. Craig Peach officiating. Burial was in the city cemetery with Military rites conducted by American Legion Post 13 and VFW Post 2267.
