Ruth Merle "Solomon" Scanlon, born January 18, 1915 passed away on June 28, 2001 at the Holladay Care Center due to complications following a stroke.
She married Maurice John Scanlon on December 17, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple who preceded her in death in 1999. Ruth is the daughter of Alfred John and Katie Rees Solomon.
She raised one daughter and two sons, Shauna Shuppy, Salt Lake City; Michael John Scanlon (Becky), Salt Lake City; Timothy Scanlon, Victor, MT. She has eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Mother was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend. She loved her family, the Hawaiian Islands and enjoyed gardening. She was a long time resident of Highland Cove Retirement Center, and her cheerfulness and loving nature will be missed by all who knew her.
Graveside Services will be held Monday, July 2, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 So. Highland Drive. The viewing for friends and family will be Monday at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 So. Highland Drive from 10-11 a.m.
