He attended school in Phillips and graduated from Phillips High School. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, and then entered the U. S. Army during World War II, serving from 1944 to 1946.
Norman married Patricia Louise Hendricks on September 8, 1949 at Grand Island, Nebraska. They began farming in Hamilton County, and retired to Aurora in 1993.
Norm was faithfully involved in the Timberlake Ranch Camp, served at the Monroe Evangelical Free Church for over 50 years, and actively participated in golf, bowling, and horseshoes.
Survivors include his wife Pat, son Mike (Rose)Holmberg of Central City; daughters Carol Holmberg of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Sharon Tootle of Biloxi, Mississippi; sisters Ingred Hedlund of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Margit Wagner of Lincoln, and Kathryn Holmberg of Grand Island; brother Donald Holmberg of Stromsberg; grandchildren Sara, and Amber Holmberg, Levi and Selemia Tootle; and step grandchildren Anthony, Monica, Erica and Ethan Winget.
He was preceded in death by brothers Gerald and Marvin; his son Bryan; and grandson Robert.
