Bessie Louise Walker "Peahull" Reid Gerstenberg

Funeral services for Bessie Louise Reid Gerstenberg, 93, of Belton will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton. Joe Baisden and Monty Daffern will be officiating. Interment will follow in the McDowell Cemetery in Belton.

Mrs. Gerstenberg passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 at a local nursing home.

Louise was born on September 23, 1918 at Salado to the late William and Bessie (Wiseman) Walker. She married Les Reid in 1939 in Bell County, after his death in 1976, she married Leonard Gerstenberg in 1987 in Willliamson County. She worked for Scott & White Hospital as nurse's aide for 21 years. Louise was a former member of the Bell County Home Demonstration Club and the Dog Ridge Rural Community Association. She was also a member of the Temple Iris Society for 40 years. Louise was a lifetime member of the Belton Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, three brothers; W. B. Walker, Bill Walker and Henry "Red" Walker, five sisters; Kathlene Dunlap, Lois Richardson, Thelma Sebastian, Ruby Turnbo Froderman, and Agnes Meldman.

Survivors include three sons; Leslie Reid of Sealy, Rex Reid of Alvaton, KY, and Gary Reid of Florence, one daughter; Elaine Chaney of Graham, twelve grandchildren and numerous great grandchidren.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Heartfield Funeral Home.
