JAMES A. COMBES

J. A. Coombs, the saw mill man, of Carbon, well known in the corner of this county, shot himself, last Tuesday, in the woods below Mansfield. He had a gun strapped on his back, and falling down, the weapon was dischaarged, tearing awaay the calf of one leg. Coombes had to lie in the woods in a cold rain while his father-in-law went four miles after a conveyanc to take him home, and the loss of blood being very great, he was unable to rally from the shock, dying at 6 o'clock next morning. He was 38 years old, and leaves a family.

On account of the death of James Coombs, the saw mill at this place is standing idle, he being a partner in same with a Mr. White of Terre Haute.
