ELMER MIESSEL, 75, of Hazen, formerly of Dodge, died Friday, April 27, 2007, at SCCI Hospital in Mandan. Services will be held at 10:00 AM MDT, Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dodge, with Pastor Richard Melchert officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, rural Dodge.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM MDT, Tuesday, at Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.

Elmer was born December 20, 1931, in Dunn County, a son of William and Magdadena (Entzel) Miessel. He was raised and educated in Dunn County, graduating from Dodge High School. Elmer farmed with his father near Dodge. On October 25, 1968 he married Darlene Adolf at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dodge. They farmed 7 miles southwest of Dodge until August 4, 2006, when Elmer was injured in a farm accident. In October 2006, they moved to Hazen where they have since lived. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dodge, where he served as a Deacon and Church Treasurer for many years; he had seved as Treasurer of the Dodge Community Club for many years and was a member of the Dodge Saddle Club. Elmer enjoyed dancing, playing cards and reading farm magazines. He is survived by his wife, Darlene of Hazen; 1 daughter, Lisa & Karl Wittstruck of Granville, ND; 1 grandson, Trent Wittstruck of Minot, ND; 3 step-children, Julie Weidner of Everett, WA, Allan Wiedner of Texas and Laura & Jeff Kerns of Redmond, WA; 3 step-grandchildren, Chaz and Denin Kerns and Katelyn Wiedner; 1 brother, Ernie & Neva Miessel of Rapid City, SD; 1 sister, Esther & Leonard Adolf of Williston; and numerous nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceeded in death by his parents and 1 nephew, Kevin Miessel.
