From generation to generation, the beloved family of Frances Ellis Case has embraced a simple but invaluable pursuit of faith, hope and charity. She was born on November 3, 1922 on Hardy Ranch near Farrar, Texas to Beulah Demarice Foley Ellis and Theodore Jackson Ellis. Although educational opportunities were somewhat limited to the hard-working farmers during The Great Depression, she and her seven siblings found great joy in life's simple pleasures. It was a slow-paced, gentler time showered with unforgettable memories of family and friends. Overcoming all obstacles and challenges during her early years, she developed an unbelievable work ethic and strong love for everyone in her earthly journey.
At the very young age of seventeen, Frances met the love of her life, Walter Melvin "Jody" Case. It was love at first sight! She was forever smitten with the tall, dark and handsome man who was a talented musician and mechanic. On the bitterly cold morning of December 26, 1939, they eloped to Oklahoma in a Model-T Ford and embarked on an unbelievable journey of love that survived WWII and carried them across great distances and time. They were happily married for sixty-nine years, nine months and five days.
Frances and Jody were married for twelve years before their only daughter, Sena Diane Case, was born in Freeport, Texas in 1952 where they resided until 1962. They moved to West Columbia, Texas in 1962 and owned three businesses until retirement. Frances was a self-taught, meticulous bookkeeper and homemaker, and she believed in southern cooking and gardening. She lavished love upon all of those who loved her...her devoted family, friends and especially children. She was blessed to provide quality care for so many children, and she loved each of them as if they were her very own. Frances loved music, and she loved to sing. . .sacred music most of all! She was also a dancing jitterbug queen! She was a talented seamstress and designed many hand-sewn quilts for her family.
On Thursday, August 2, 2012 Frances Ellis Case stepped into the presence of her Lord. Her only daughter and granddaughter were surely blessed to be holding her hands and lavishing her with such love as she bravely completed her earthly journey and courageously became a citizen if heaven for all eternity.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Melvin "Jody" Case as well as her parents and several siblings: Bo Ellis, Bae Ellis Tumlinson, Happy Jack Ellis and James Ellis. She is survived by her only daughter, Sena Case Yates, her only granddaughter, Heather Hightower Bell (husband Jason Bell) and her only great-grandson, Brayden Bell. Her remaining siblings are Vera Ellis Copeland of Lake Jackson, Ozie Ellis Lewis (husband Charles) of Angleton and Lawrence Ellis of Lake Jackson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
