Mary Elizabeth (CARTER) BOLES died June 16, 1998 at the home of her daughter, Gale (PINKLEY) ASTRUP in Fairport Harbor, Ohio at age 83, after suffering a massive stroke June 6th. She was born May 11, 1915 in Painesville, the youngest daughter of Simeon CARTER and Nettie RIPPIN. She lived in Painesville and Mentor for many years. She married at age 62, George "Frank" BOLES on Oct. 17, 1977 in Ashtabula where they lived and were members of Prospect Presbyterian Church. They moved to Concord, Ohio in 1996. "Frank" developed Alzheimers and died Friday, July 10 1998 at Altercare nursing home in Mentor at age 78. He was buried in Washington Cemetery, Washington, PA.
Mary BOLES graduated from Harvey High School and worked as a bookkeeper at W.T. Grants. She 1st married June 16, 1933 in Painesville, Victor Arthur Cole -they had 3 children and divorced in 1940. She married 2nd, Dec 2, 1944 in Painesville, Archie Jesse Pinkley a US Coast Guard.
Mary attended Lake Erie Academy of Cosmetology; taught cosmetology and also taught exercise classes in her 70's. In addition to her own five children, she was foster mother to 11 children and worked as a volunteer at Ashtabula Memorial Hospital and Altercare Nursing Home. She kept active, enjoying family and friends, gardening, reading and her computer; her enthusiasm was contagious!
