Son of Lee and Arletta (Peters) Markley of Grand Juction, Colorado, later of Denver, Colorado. Perry went to school in Denver and later got a business degree from the University of Maryland. He loved to travel and did so extensively while living in Germany from 1983-89. He moved to San Francisco in May 1989 and passed away the following year. As he had requested, Perry was cremated and half of his ashes were placed in a niche at the Columbarium in San Francisco and the other half were buried on the Markley family plot in Delta Cemetery, Delta County, Colorado. That explains why Perry has two memorials because his ashes are in two locations.
