Obit from 4 Sept 1997 Albany, Oregon newspaper: July 15, 1926-Sept 2, 1997. Marion D. "Andy" Anderson, 71, of Albany died Tuesday at home. He was born in Glen Elder, Kan., the son of Lester and Lavina (Sherbondy) Anderson, and left Kansas with his family at the age of 10. He lived in West Salem and attended Salem High School. Mr. Anderson served in the Navy during World War II. He married Marie Lecours on June 30, 1947, in Monson, Mass. They lived in Medford before moving to Albany in 1955. Mr. Anderson was a barber for 25 years and worked for Pacific Power & Light before retiring. An outdoorsman at heart, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bicycle riding and hiking. He belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, and was a former grand knight of the Medford Knights of Columbus. He had been a Boy Scouts leader and he belonged to the Albany Elks Lodge. Surviving are wife Marie; daughters Therese McClain of Astoria, Yvonne Martin of Bend, and Janet Anderson of El Prado, N.M.; sons Joe and Patrick, both of Portland; brother Albert of Everett, Wash.; and sisters Dot Elgin and Dutch Sealey, both of Salem; and Betty Danner of Arizona City, Ariz. Eight grandchildren also survive. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Fisher Funeral Home. Mr. Anderson's funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father John Betts officiating. Entombment will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Twin Oaks Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's School, in care of Fisher Funeral Home, P.O. Box 156, Albany, Ore. 97321.
