Jerry E. Benjamin of Highland, a native of Effingham, Kansas, lived in Highland for 41 years, died Wednesday of a pulmonary embolism at Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Medical Center in Loma Linda at the age of 64. He worked as a plumbing contractor for Benel Plumbing for 40 years and was a member of St. Adelaide Catholic church, American Legion and Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local 364. He was a former member and eucharistic minister of St. Anne Catholic Church for 29 years and a Navy veteran during the Korean Conflict. He was survived by his wife, Frances, his son, Jay of Highland, his daughter, Julie Bixler of Grand Terrace, his brother, John of Kellogg, Idaho, four grandchildren and one great-grandchildren. Vigil services at 7 p.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel with Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church and interment to follow at Montecito Memorial Park. The family suggests donation to the American Cancer Society.
