A resident of Baton Rouge, she passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, in Houston. She was 81. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday. Funeral services at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Freddie and Nancy Malatesta, Atlanta, and David and Peggy Malatesta, Houston; five grandchildren, Bryan and wife Bonnie Malatesta, Houston, Eric and wife Jennifer Malatesta and Andrew Malatesta, all of Baton Rouge, Matt and wife Kelly Malatesta, The Woodlands, Texas, and Amy Malatesta, Baton Rouge; four great-grandchildren, Dane Malatesta, Austin, Avery Malatesta, Baton Rouge, and Mackenzie Malatesta and McKay Malatesta, both of The Woodlands; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucy and Eugene Webb, Charlotte, N.C., and Polly and Jeff Bowen, Wilmington, Del.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Peggy Street, Crystal Lake, Ill. Preceded in death by her husband, Fred Malatesta. She graduated as valedictorian from Ripley Mississippi High School in 1935. She was crowned the first Miss Ripley in 1936. She married Fred Malatesta in 1937 in Tupelo, Miss. They soon established their home in Baton Rouge, where they worked together in bookkeeping and tax service for more than 40 years. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was a member of Catholic High School Mothers Club. Memorial donations may be made to Catholic High School.
