Mabel Louise Foster was born on August 29, 1914, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Frank Vinton and Effie Siefken Foster. She graduated from Marshalltown High School. She married Herbert Maxwell "Max" Galloway on June 9, 1935, in Marshalltown.

Mabel worked at the F.W. Woolworth store in Marshalltown and baked pies for many years. She was also a stage manager for many years at the dancing recitals at the Coliseum for Jo Ann's School of Dance, where her children took lessons.

Mabel was a member of the Central Christian Church, the 600 Club of the Bowling Association, and Marshalltown Senior Citizens; and a board member of the Women's Bowling Association.

Mabel Louise Galloway, resident of 407 N. 2nd St., Marshalltown, died at home on Thursday, May 27, 1993.

She is survived by three children, Janet (Max) Graves and Linda (Warren) Balvanz,both of Marshalltown; Robert, of Plano, Texas; three sisters: Vivian Mae Duncan and Genevieve I. Foster, both of Marshalltown; and Marjorie A. Martinson, Miami, Florida; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max; son Ronald L.; and her brother,
Orville Frank Foster.

Arrangements were by Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home. Visitation was after 5 p.m. Sunday, May 30, with the family present from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, May 31.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 1, 1:30 p.m., at the Central Christian Church, Marshalltown, Rev. Timothy Murtaugh officiating. Memorials were requested to the Central Christian Church. Pallbearers were Tom Gilson, Hutch Harrison, Gary Foster, Roy Reed, David Buffington, and Fred Rinnan. Honorary bearers were Melvin Anderson, Walter Brown, John Botsford, John Roger Mead, John Mueller, and Paul Eker.
