Mrs. Paul (Erma) Spillman, died Wednesday, November 5. She had lived in Wellington 36 years and was active in the town's business and church life, as well as in civic work and in veterans organizations. Mrs. Spillman moved to Wellington with her husband and their small son in 1950 after he had graduated from Baylor University Law School in Waco. For a number of years. Mrs. Spillman worked in her husband's office, especially in the tax department.

Mrs. Spillman, the former Erma Lou Brunker, was born February 10, 1927, in Wichita, Kansas. She was the daughter of the late William A. Brunker and Grace May Harris Brunker, both of whom were born in Kansas. After graduating from Coyville High School, she attended Chanute Kansas, Junior College. Afterwards she taught school. Erma Brunker was married to William Paul Spillman on June 29, 1946.

In Wellington, she was a charter member of the 1954 Study Club. She belonged to First United Methodist Church and to its Wesleylan Guild, now the United Methodist Women. She and her husband were active in Veterans affairs and she belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. After the death of her husband in 1980, Mrs. Spillman, wishing to remain active in the community, accepted the work of secretary of First United Methodist Church She remained a member of the church staff until July of this year.

Survivors are one son, William Paul Spillman, Jr., and two daughters, Cheryl Tarver and Lynette Spillman, all of Wellington. There are 5 grandchildren, Ashley, Marnie and Kristen Spillman and Justin and Landon Tarver. Three brothers and a sister also survive: Wendell Brunker and Eugene Brunker of Fredonia, Kansas and Keith Brunker of Albany, Oregon and Alberta Chapman of Liberal, Kansas.
