George D. Chastain
Chesapeake - George Dennis Chastain, 67, of the 4000 block of Terry Dr. went home to Jesus on Friday, July 13, 2012 while in a local hospital. He was born on December 22, 1944 in Oologah, OK to the late Charles and Helen Chastain. George was a retired U.S. Navy veteran serving in both Vietnam and Desert Storm; and was a member of Western Branch Community Church. He was also a wood shop technology teacher for middle schools in Norfolk and Chesapeake.
He is survived by his wife, Karen W. Chastain; three daughters, Audrey Giering (Jim) and Kimberly and Amber Chastain; a son, Ronald L. Freeze; a sister, Marie McClure; a brother, Leonard Chastain; four grandchildren, Matthew, Jimmy, Chris and Alexander; and a host of other extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, July 17, 2012 in Western Branch Community Church by Rev. Jim Wall. Burial will follow in Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel Monday evening from 7 - 8:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Western Branch Community Church Missions Fund, 1935 Jolliff Rd., Chesapeake, 23321.
