Ola Howery Perdue, 95, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Monday, October 20, 2008, at her home. She was born in Floyd County, Va., on March 26, 1913, to the late Emmett and Flora E. Sowers Howery and was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie James "Grant" Perdue; two sons, James Edwin "Jimmy" Perdue and Alva P. Perdue; a daughter-in-law, Norma Perdue; a granddaughter, Sharon Chandle; a grandson, Timmy Perdue; a great-grandson, Matthew Creasy; one sister; and nine brothers. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Josephine P. and Frank Taylor, of Bluefield, W.Va., Shirley P. and Eddie Akers, and Joyce P. and Paul Hypes, all of Blacksburg; a son, Irvin W. Perdue, of Wilmington, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Perdue, of Christiansburg; a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Helen Howery, of Blacksburg; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Carilion Hospice Service of New River Valley for all their help and support during Olas illness. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2008, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rador W. Vaden officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Flowers would be appreciated and memorial contributions may be made to Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress Street, N.E., Blacksburg, Va. 24060. Friends may call any time after noon on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg, Va.
