Starling Carpenter Wright was a beloved son of Rev. John Wesley Wright, called Wesley, and Abby Lee "Abilee" Carpenter, (Abbie Lee on census & death certificate records) named in honor of Abilee's father, his maternal Grandfather Starling Carpenter, a pioneer from South Carolina, who journeyed to Texas with his wife Sara Ann Tobitha Carpenter and family in 1800s.

Rev. John Wesley Wright was a son of Rev. Isaac Edward Wright and Martha Ellen Henderson. They had 6 sons and lived in Burke, Angelina County, Texas. Isaac's brother Rev. Henry Dawson Wright was the first Pastor of Ryan Chapel United Methodist Church South in Burke, Angelina County from 18666 though late 1877 when he died. The church is thriving and a part of the community in the 21st century. Isaac Wright died in 1873 at age 36 years. His wife Martha raised their sons, with John Wesley Wright, Jr., called Wesley, being about 13 when his father died. Wesley and his brothers worked hard on the family farm helping their mother survive. They became very poor through the years. Martha raised her sons in the Christian faith, attending Ryan Chapel Methodist Church, taught them values and to be close as a family.

John Wesley Wright was named for his paternal Uncle Rev. John Wesley Wright, brother to his father Isaac. Young John Wesley Wright felt the call to the ministry as his minister father Isaac Edward Wright had. John Wesley Wright and Abilee Carpenter were married January 25, 1890, Angelina County, Texas. They had at least four children, possibly five. The children whose names are verifiable are Starling Carpenter Wright, John Wesley Wright, Bessie Lee Wright, and Neoma Wright, with records of John Wesley Wright, Starling Carpenter Wright and Bessie Lee Wright living to adulthood.

Rev. John Wesley Wright died about 1902, age 42.

Widow Abilee Carpenter Wright married widower DeWitt Clinton Palmore December 5, 1905 in Texas. Dewitt Clinton Palmore's parents were Richard Florence Palmore (b Jul 28, 1855 MS - d Nov 20, 1937 MS buried Pine Bluff Cemetery, Poplar Creek, Montgomery Co, MS) and Theresa Ann Weeks (b September 18, 1853 - d October 17, 1894, buried Gratham Cemetery, Carroll Co, MS).

DeWitt Clinton Palmore's first wife Mary Elizabeth (Beverly) Palmore (b 1855 - d 1903) was buried in Fairchild-Dubose Cemetery, Angelina County, Texas. The two families lived in the same area in Angelina County. Being communities and families were close, they were probably friends and neighbors for several years.

Dewitt and Abilee's first child A. J. Carpenter was born in 1906. They had two daughters, Ottie Emma Palmore (b Sep 6, 1909 Brown Co, TX - d Oct 7, 1996 Ft. Worth, Tarrant Co, TX), and Lottie Mae Palmore (b Mar 22, 1911, Brown Co, TX - d Sep 25, 2003 Houston, Harris Co, TX).

Dewitt Clinton Palmore died Jun 1, 1912, in Brownwood, Brown County, Texas, at the age of 58 years. Abilee Palmore was left a bereaved widow, age 42 with the children to care for and raise on her own. She was strong and resolute, and lovingly reared their children, doing the best she could by sacrifice and all them pulling together as a family. She never remarried.
