Harold W. Grier, 83, son of Harry E. and Hallie M. Grier, was born Sept. 16, 1920, at Strafford.
He died Aug. 18, 2004, at ManorCare Health Facility in Springfield.
He married Wanda Olive Murphy Aug. 24, 1940.
Most of Mr. Grier's adult life was spent in hospital work. He began his career at Burge Hospital in the credit department. He worked in many positions there throughout the years until moving to Fayette to become administrator of Keller Memorial Hospital. He later moved to Marshall as administrator of Fitzgibbons Hospital and Springfield, where he was administrator of Fremont Manor Nursing Home, which later became ManorCare. After a few years, he moved to Houston, where he was administrator at Texas County Memorial Hospital from 1979 to early 1983. After his retirement, the Griers returned to Springfield, where he was active on the airport board for many years. He was a deacon at Glenstone Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of almost 64 years; two sons, Rick Grier of Springfield and Tom E. Grier of Branson; a brother, Harry J. Grier of Springfield; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Burial in the Eastlawn Cemetery.
