Born on Patriot's Day, April 19, 1933, in Williamstown, MA, Ed passed away after a short illness. He graduated from Norwich University (the Military College of Vermont) in 1953 and immediately entered the USMC, serving in a rifle company and commanding the company which returned the Colors of the 1st Marine Division from Korea to Camp Pendleton.

Ed received his discharge at Moffett Field and with the exception of three years with the DOD in Vietnam, spent the rest of his days in Santa Clara County. Ed's career in sales and management for Ford and Lincoln-Mercury dealers in Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Mountain View and Sunnyvale spanned just over 30 years. He moved to The Villages in San Jose in 1988.

Ed leaves his beloved wife of 34 years, Betty, to whom he always referred as "the best thing that ever happened to me;" daughters Diane Wenzel and Leslie-Ann Campbell, brothers Brian (Alice) and Kevin of Ludlow, MA, brother Gary (Joan) of Daytona Beach FL, sister Moira Cardinal of Millville, MA, four grandchildren, four -great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed will be remembered for his intelligence, principle, and keen wit. He was a lover of jazz, a well-turned phrase, the USMC, Norwich, the SF 49ers -- and everything Irish.

At Ed's request, a memorial service is not planned locally. A memorial gathering of family will be held this Spring in the Williamstown MA area.
