Andrew W. Litz was born about 1836 in Pennsylvania.

1860 Woodward, Clinton, PA, Andrew Leets 43, a Farmer, real estate $1,000, personal estate $100, Elizabeth 39, Tabitha 19, David 18, a Lab, Andrew 15, Abram 12, Burton 9, Cordelia 6, Amelia 3, Tacy 1.

Andrew served in the Civil War he enlisted on Feb. 2, 1864 at Lock Haven, PA, was age 20, mustered in March 1, 1864 as a Private in Co. F, 54th PA Inf. and Co. C, 33rd PA Inf. He was discharged on June 14, 1864. His mother Elizabeth claimed a pension from him on June 27, 1888.

Andrew died on March 31, 1866 and was buried at the Dunnstown Cemetery.

Note: An error was possibly made when filing the veteran's burial application and the headstone list Andrew W. Litz as the one that died on July 13, 1914, but DAVID LITZ is the one that died that day. They both didn't die the same day. Andrew died in 1866.

Also, Elizabeth, the mother, her 1899 obituary does not list a son Andrew still living, therefore her son Andrew died before that date.
