Libbie A. Akin, age 96, of Silver Springs, died Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw. She was born in Eagle, NY, November 15, 1915, the daughter of the late Arthur and Frances Keppen Coburn. Libbie worked twenty-six years before retiring from the Lucas Rule Company in Silver Springs. She was a longtime member of the Silver Springs United Methodist Church.
Libbie was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson J. Akin; a son, Elmer Akin; a daughter, Beatrice Conley, two sons-in-law; Thomas and James Conley; two grandchildren; Kevin Prosser and Nelson Akin; a brother, Albert Coburn; and three sisters, Rose Wolfer, Marcia Ladd, and Catharine Harris.
Survivors include two daughters, Violet Conley of Perry and Joanne (Lawrence) Prosser of Warsaw; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Weeks Funeral Home, Warsaw on Tuesday with the Rev. Lauren Turner officiating. Burial followed in the Elmwood Cemetery in Silver Springs.
Libbie was fun-loving, caring and full of energy. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
