Services for Mitchel Crecelius, 83, of 1721 Seventh Ave., N., retired line foreman for Southern Bell Telephone Co., will be at 2 p.m. today at Buena Vista Funeral Home, 1503 Buchanan St.
The Rev. Dr. W. E. Darby and the Rev. A. H. Pilkinton will officiate. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home.
Crecelius died of a heart ailment at 11:30 p.m. Sunday in a Nashville hospital.
He was born in Marengo, Ind., a son of Jeremiah and Maude Moon Crecelius and was educated in the public schools there. He had lived in Nashville since 1906.
His first wife, the former Eva Goetz, of Columbus, Ind., died in 1930.
In 1955, he married the former Mazie Wann, who survives.
He was a member of the Meridian Street Methodist Church.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Janice Hall, Wooster, Ohio; three sons, O. M. Crecelius, Buford Crecelius, and Jerry Crecelius, all of Nashville; a step-son, Eugene Wann, Nashville; three sisters, Mrs. Lora White, Marengo, Mrs. Roma Funk, Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Mattie Hannon, Bristol, Tenn.; a brother, Charlie Crecelius, Harrodsburg, Ky.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Crecelius Funeral Tuesday; Retired Line Foreman
Mitchell Crecelius, 83, retired telephone line foreman of 1721 Seventh Ave. N., died at 11:50 p.m. Sunday at a local infirmary after being ill nearly six years.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Buena Vista Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. W. E. Darby, pastor of Grace Southern Baptist Church, and the Rev. H. A. Pilkinton, former pastor of First General Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home.
Born in Marengo, Ind., Mr. Crecelius was an employee of Bell Telephone Co. and helped build the first toll line into Tennessee which extended from Louisville to Nashville in 1906. He moved to Nashville that same year with his wife, the former Eva Goetz of Columbus, Ind. She died in 1930. In 1955, Mr. Crecelius married the former Mazie Wann of Alabama, who survives.
Mr. Crecelius retired as a line foreman for the telephone company in 1933. He was a member of Meridian Street Methodist Church.
Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Janice Hall of Wooster, Ohio; three sons, O. M., B. G., and Jerry Crecelius, all of Nashville; a stepson, Eugene Wann of Nashville; three sisters, Mrs. Lora White of Marengo, Mrs. Roma Funk of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Mattie Hannon of Bristol; a brother, Charlie Crecelius of Harrodsburg, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
