Ethel Imogene Parsons, born 23 July 1913 ,was teaching in a country school when she married Ernest Branch in 1931 and they started their family.

She proved to be a great wife and mother. She loved gardening and  propagated her own Iris, creating several new varieties. She dug a lily pond and built a rockgarden with a waterfall, long before water gardening became popular. She found large sandstone rocks in the pasture and their hired hands hauled them in and placed the stones at her direction. The Branch yard was a showplace and people came from miles around to see Imogene's landscaping and purchase Iris bulbs from her.

In 1966, after all three children were grown and married, Imogene went back to college at NWOSU, Alva, completed her master's degree and accepted a position at Ashland, Kansas, about 30 miles away. She taught English and Speech, and loved the job. In 1968 Ernest and Imogene sold the town house at Buffalo to the school and moved to Ashland.

Buffalo schools demolished the house, and the beautifully landscaped yard became part of the elementary playground. Imogene was an active member of the Baptist church, Rebekah lodge, Buffalo LAPM, National Education Assoc, Kansas Teachers Assoc. and Kansas Assoc of School Librarians. She was listed in "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities."

Imogene was such a great cook. Everyone loved her big yeasty caramel cinnamon rolls topped with pecans and her strawberry rhubarb pie. Every family birthday and holiday was appropriately celebrated with food and fun at the Branch home.
