He was born in Grand Rapids,the son of Floyd M. and Alice Bauman Hopkins on April 30,1923.
He married Helen L. Martin,in Stanton,on Nov.7 1940,She preceded him in death on May 18,2000.
He also was preceded in death by his son,Marshall "Buddy" Hopkins in 1992; and a brother,Roger,in 1988.
He was a Heavy Equipment Operator in the Greenville-Stanton areas for many years.
He is survived by his son and wife James and Karen Hopkins of Greenville;his daughtersand sons-in-law,Jeanette and Mike Roger of Greenville;Jean and Larry Staffen of Belding;nie grandchildren,Larry and Audrey Staffen of Fenwick, Helen and Patrick Cooper of Howard City, Shelly and Richard Bunce,of Belding,George Roger,Mike Roger Jr.,Julie Roger,Patrick and Kristi Roger,Lynee and Dennis Laidlaw,Kendra and John vinton all of Greenville,Jeffrey and Amy hopkins,of Sheridan;16 great-grandchildren;five step grandchildren;his brother John and Judith Hopkins of Greenville; sister-in-law,Donna and Jim Turner of Wapekoneta,Ohio;several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 1p.m. Monday at Hurst Funeral Home,Greenville with Pastor Ken Harger,officiating.Burial is in RestHaven Memory Gardens,Belding.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.Memorials may be given to Hospice.
