Pfc. Charles E. WILKINSON, age 25, died December 27, 1944, of wounds received in Luxembourg, according to a War Department telegram received by his mother, Mrs. Ela WILKINSON of Elco [Pa]. The telegram was received last Saturday and was signed by "DUNLAP, Acting Adjutant General." Pfc. WILKINSON is the third Elco [Pa] man to die in this war.
Born in Roscoe [Pa], September 2, 1919, he attended schools in Roscoe, Elco, and Charleroi [Pa} High School. He entered the Army December 2, 1942, and was assigned to an Infantry Division. After training at Camp Polk, La., Camp Van Dorn, Miss., and Camp Maxey, Texas, the Elco [Pa] soldier left for overseas in Sept., 1944. He had been awarded the Expert Rifleman's Medal and also received the Sharpshooter's Medal. His last visit here was in June, 1944.
Surviving besides his mother are two brothers, Harry [WILKINSON] of Stockdale and Raymond [WILKINSON] of Charleroi [Pa] and three sisters, Mrs. Florence [WILKINSON] RANKIN, of Elco, Mrs. Grace [WILKINSON] HANN, of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Helen [WILKINSON] O'REILY, also of Pittsburgh [Pa].
