Wounds Wife, Ends Own Life

MASON CITY, IA. A Mason City man Wednesday night shot his estranged wife in the back with a .22-caliber rifle and then killed himself with the same weapon.
Dead on arrival at a hospital here was Orville D. Adams, 49. His wife, Dorothea, 51, was listed in fair condition at Memorial Hospital.
Police said Adams went to the home where his wife lived and that an argument ensued about 10 p.m.
They said Mrs. Adams ran out of the home and was pursued by her husband who shot her in the back.
Adams then fired a bullet into his head, officers said. They said the couple was separated.
