It is stated in the book that the village of New Salem was laid out in 1802 and the land on which the village of New Salem or Annapolis now stands was entered by Henry and Adam Miser. (Henry was Adam's nephew, the son of Henry).

On October 23, 1819, Adam received a patent for 160 acres in Paint Township, Wayne County, Ohio from President James Monroe. On this land is where he is buried.

There is only one grave with a marker, there are more graves, but when the graves were moved in the 60's the stones were not replaced.
