Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church in Miller Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Louisa Ellen Carl, 79, who died in her sleep early Wednesday morning, June 13, at her home. She had been active, though under a doctor’s care for several years. The Rev. William C. Montignani officiated and burial was in Howell Cemetery in the Howell community.
Pallbearers were six nephews: Bernard Vens, Howard Carl, Marvin Hargens, George Hargens, Chester Carl and Floyd Carl.
Ella Snyder was born February 15, 1883 in Alpha township, Hand County, the daughter of Abraham and Lydia Snyder. At the age of 10 she moved with her parents to Carleton township. She was married to Dan Carl on August 10, 1904. They lived and farmed in Carleton township until his death in 1947 at which time she moved to York township.
Surviving are six daughters: Mrs. Ernest (Elsie) Grimm, Willow Lake; Mrs. C. A. (Zelda) Miller, Rockham; Mrs. Ervin (Melva) Davis, Rockham; Mrs. Charles (charlotte) Smith, St. Lawrence; Mrs. Harold (Ester) butts, Omaha, Nebr.; and Mrs. Edward (Marie) Slunecka, Miller; one son, Robert I. Carl, St. Lawrence; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Emma Carl and Mrs. George Hargens, Miller; Mrs. William Curry, Appleton, Minn.; and Mrs. Floyd Grimm, Perkins, Okla.; one brother, Henry Snyder, Miller; and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two infant sons, parents, one brother and three sisters.
