Philip Eugene Parks, 83, died June 14, 2012 at Hospice House, Hutchinson.

He was born May 12, 1929 in Hutchinson, the son of Howard and Louise Phillips Parks.

A graduate of Partridge High School, he was a member and trustee at New Hope Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trap shooter, and spent 40 years as an amateur radio operator. Philip retired as department manager after 31 years with Cessna/Eaton Corporation.

On April 15, 1948 he married Viola Ruth Newburn in Kingman. She survives.

Other survivors include six children, Robert and wife Bonnie, Tijeras, NM, Thomas and wife Shirley, Hutchinson, Steven, South Hutchinson, Jenise Nelson and husband Harold, Hutchinson, Janet Peterson and husband Greg, Zambia, Africa, and Randall and wife Mickey, Hutchinson; half-brothers, James and William both of Wichita, 30 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and a special cousin, Gerald Bates, Camdenton, MO.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 pm. Monday at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, Hutchinson. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Harold Nelson presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
