Carl Willis Southern was born in December, 1916, to Willis Asbury and Ollie Pearl Higgins Southern, in Sweetwater, Texas. In September of 1957 Carl married Joan Ella Olsen, and to this union three children were born: Randy in 1948; Sandra in 1949 and Pamela in 1952. Carl died of a massive heart attack. His remains were cremated and later buried with his father in the Stockton Rural Cemetery, Stockton, California.
