George J. Nolan, Jr., 62, of Manchester NH and formerly of Derry NH, Alton NH, and North Reading MA, died June 12, 2012, at the Bedford Hills Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford. Born in Cambridge MA, on Dec. 4, 1949, he was the son of the late George J., Sr., and Elinor C. (McKinnon) Nolan. He was raised in North Reading and was a graduate of North Reading High School, class of 1967. George was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Conflict from 1967 to 1971, and he served aboard the USS Warrington. He later served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1984 to 1987 at Fort Devens MA.

George worked for many years as a welder and pipefitter. He worked for the Malden Mills in Lawrence MA, East Boston Navy Yard, and for Elston Welding in North Reading. He loved coin collecting. He was a diehard Bruins Fan and enjoyed motorcycles, gun collecting, photography, and music. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and Knights of Columbus No. 13026 both in Litchfield. George loved his family wholeheartedly. He was a devoted father and an amazing grandfather.

Family members include his loving wife of 28 years, Karen A. (Holbert) Nolan; his cherished daughters Tina Marie Goodnow of Salem NH, and Lyndsey Brooke Nolan and Cassie Joan Nolan, both of Manchester NH; brother Edward Nolan and wife Jeanne of Londonderry NH; sister Mary Alyce Riddinger and husband Bob of Pelham NH; mother-in-law Joan Holbert of Peabody MA; his late father-in-law Bernard Holbert; and grandchildren Cody, Taylor, Aiden, Nikolas, Alex, Logan, and Landon.
