RICHARDS, CWO William H. 80, of St. Petersburg, passed away June 12, 2012. William received a Bachelor's degree from the Univ. of Washington in Chinese Language Studies and an MBA from the Univ. of South Florida. He proudly served in the Army for 23 years, during which he worked primarily in military intelligence. William served in Vietnam and received both a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star Medal. He retired from the Army in 1974 after attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Upon returning to St. Petersburg, William worked for 20 years as an investigator and later the director of the consumer affairs department for Pinellas County. He also taught remedial reading skills at Lakewood Elementary School in St. Petersburg. William is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Elsbeth; sons, Dale (Ban), William Jr., and Charles; daughters Patricia (Brian) Sargent, Carol (Timothy) Grundmann, and Janell (Dr. Kenneth) Mooney; brother, Alfred Jr.; sister, Laura Coleman; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, June 20th at the David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg. Interment with full military honors will follow at Bay Pines National Cemetery. David C. Gross Funeral Homes 6366 Central Ave.
