Curtis Reue was born to Ed Reue and Esther Grimm Reue. His grandparents were Fred Grimm, Emily Haas Grimm, Bertha Schwake Reue and Fritz Wilhelm Reue.

In a newspaper write up Mr. and Mrs. Ed Reue of Belton were notified by the war department last Saturday of the death of their son, Sgt Curtis E. Reue 22, from wounds received in Italy on Feb 17. He was with the fifth army infantry and saw action in Northern Africa, Sicily and Italy having gone overseas after five months of training. He has been across nine months when he was killed. While in training he received several medals for his marksmanship. Beside his parents he is survived by 2 sisters Mrs. Melvin Jones and Miss Robbie Lee Reue of Belton.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Reue of Taylor Valley, Belton, Texas, USA., received word recently from the war department that their son, who was killed in action in February died a "HERO". His parents will be presented the "Bronze Star" at Dallas, Texas soon, for his gallantry as he ran across an open field of fire carrying a 60 mm mortar and clearing the way for his company.

His body is buried at, Sicily-Rome American Cemetery in Italy and a Memorial Plaque has been placed in Holland Cemetery, Bell County, Texas, USA in remembrance of him.
