Rose Burns Reid had transcribed the tombstone which indicated that he was from Antrim County, Ireland, but over the years the tombstone has disappeared and the dates she transcribed have proven to be inaccurate. Probate of his estate was found in York County, SC dated 21 May 1824. I have not been able to verify either of his dates with other documents. His grave was probably near his wife Florah Porter Burns. In the 1820 federal census of York Co SC he and his wife were in the 16 to 25 age range. Since Florah was born in 1795, John probably was as well.
