Elsie L. Brushwood, age 90 of Marysville, WA passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2007. She was born on July 16, 1916 in Clear Lake, WA to Frank and Iona (Wellington) Wood. Elsie was a longtime Ferndale resident, and a member of the United Church of Ferndale.
She was a very kind, generous and gracious woman who never uttered a harsh word to anyone. She was a gentle, selfless soul, who was known for her loving, accepting nature. Elsie forgave freely, loved abundantly, and enjoyed being with her family.
Elsie worked for 42 years as a telephone operator and receptionist, beginning her career at Farmers Telephone Co. in Ferndale, and retiring from Contel in Lynden. She was a volunteer nurse in WWII and was a plane spotter at Neptune Beach in Ferndale. She was a volunteer at the Senior Center and the food bank in Lynden.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Max Brushwood. She will be greatly missed by her family, including her daughter, Janet Pride (Richard); grandchildren Shawn Saack (Bradley), Sandra Scruggs (Scott), and Jason Pride (Kristi); and six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Benny, Jake, Anna, Meagan and Tyler.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 10 am in the Moles-Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel, on Northwest Drive, Ferndale.
