Mr. Leon died Tuesday, May 1, 1990, at his residence

He was born July 17, 1931 in Byron, a son of Charles and Elizabeth Seurer Leon. On October 13, 1956, he married Mary T Lambeseder.

Mr. Leon served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 and was stationed in Germany. He served in the US Army Reserves from 1955 to November 1956. After returning to Fond du Lac, he operated Zesto’s Custard of Fond du Lac from 1955 to 1956. He then established Leon’s Carry Out restaurant of Fond du Lac, and the Ponderosa Supper Club from 1966 to 1972. Following a fire the restaurant was rebuilt as The Chaparral.

Some of the things Chuck is remembered for is his great sense of humor and the many practical jokes he played on friends and family. He operated many “pop up” firework stands in the weeks before the 4th, and always had a huge company picnic with a lavish fireworks display out in the lake. He was an extremely generous person, purchasing many needed items for people that couldn’t afford it or giving away free meals.

Survivors include two sons, Charles J of West Palm Beach, Fl, and Claude J of Fond du Lac, two daughters, Miss Linda K Leon of West Palm Beach, Fl, and Miss Lisa A Leon of Jacksonville, Fl; one brother, Jerome and his wife Jeanette of Fond du Lac; two sisters, Miss Winifred Leon of Fond du Lac, and Miss Virginia Cortney of Fond du Lac.

Preceding him in death him were a daughter, Christine Marie, his parents, Carl and Elizabeth and two brothers Claude and Harvey.
