HARRISBURG – R. Blaine Mauney, 74, of Harrisburg, passed away at his residence, at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012.

Blaine was born on October 4, 1937 in Pleasant View, KY, to Roy and Ellen (Bird) Mauney.

He married Rebecca L. Deuel on July 16, 1971 in Jellico, TN. They had one son.

Blaine is survived by his wife; son and daughter-in-law, Roy (Melissa) Mauney of Harrisburg; two grandsons, Brice & Ethan Mauney of Harrisburg; two brothers, Dewey Mauney of Lake of Egypt and Robert Mauney of Pleasant View, KY; two sisters, Melba Killman of Lake of Egypt, and Edith Roberts of Lake of Egypt.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

He was a member of the Sons of American Legion Squadron Post #167, Harrisburg.

He retired from Eagle #2 Coal Mine of Shawneetown in 1991.

His death was related to injuries he received in the February 29, 2012 tornado.

As per his request he will be cremated and there will be not be any services.
